The last garden waste collection before Christmas will be Tuesday 10th December 2024.
We will be collecting Christmas trees - only - from kerbsides in Colinton on Tuesday 7th January 2025.
Normal green waste collections will resume on 14th Jan 2025.
Tiphereth Compost & Firewood is the social enterprise arm of the Tiphereth Camphill community. Buying from Tiphereth means you are supporting the wider work of our community. Profits from these products support adults with learning disabilities and autism. Helping them to fulfil their potential and contribute to society. We sell two products: nutrient-rich, quality compost and seasoned logs. These sustainable products are all produced from local materials. Using ethical, environmentally friendly, methods.
Our products are produced by our quarry group. This comprises members with learning disabilities and autism. Experienced staff support them to set their own pace and provide the support they need. This means that some of our processes may be a little slower than you were expecting.
Our members get a great sense of achievement from this work. The group is respected by our partners and appreciated by the local community.
Firewood.
We offer a range of locally sourced firewood which is hand-chopped by our members and seasoned on our site. We also have nets of kindling. Logs are under 25cm long so they will fit most wood-burning stoves and are seasoned to less than 25% moisture content.

Compost.
For over 20 years we’ve been making Edinburgh’s finest local compost.
Our compost is fine grade, handmade and improves the moisture and nutrient retention of your soil. It can be used in outdoor pots and beds or dug into topsoil as a soil improver.

Green waste uplift in Colinton.
Tiphereth runs the garden waste collection service in Colinton on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council. The weekly pickup is a maximum of 4 containers. We will only collect containers that we have provided or containers that are of similar shape and size.
We only accept fresh garden waste that is suitable for composting. No soil, turf, large branches, composted materials or non-organic materials will be accepted.
How to register for the service.
Residents of Colinton who wish to use this service must register for a "brown bin" collection. There is an annual fee payable to the council. The registration form is here.
